Keaton, the other night, on his lack of sleep:
"I get as much rest as a church mouse. When people come early to church. And he had a long night...getting cheese. And bread crumbs."
I laughed for a long, long time.

...love.

Sunday Afternoon
I'm pretty sure today was the perfect afternoon. After church we had an early dinner on our backyard porch in the warm early summer sun, then I spread out a blanket and read a photography magazine while snapping shots off and on of my intrepid little boy as he explored every inch of our backyard for the umpteenth time.
I gave our Young Women's lesson on keeping journals today. I was glad I'd kept all those journals while Keaton was on his mission, but it made me sad to realize that A. I hadn't kept a handwritten journal at all for almost 4 years and B. that this blog, which is the closest thing to a journal and family history that I can currently claim, has not been updated for a month and a half. That might be a record for this blog, I'm not sure! I've been busy, of course, but I'm coming to realize that the busier I get the thing that gets neglected most of all is me. So I'm going to make an effort to not let the personal side of my life slide by the wayside while the professional takes over. And there is just so much I need to share! Consider this post my first step towards blog/journal repentance. :)
He's been making this face quite a lot lately! He makes me laugh.

Puddles
Today was cold, but that didn't stop Jamison from dragging me outside for a while. I love that we have a big backyard for him to run around in when the house gets to small to hold all of his mischeif. Sometimes he is so sweet and funny and precious it stops my heart. We have a little spot on our back porch that always collects water, and he was drawn like a magnet to it. The clouds were reflected so perfectly his tromping little baby shoes sent splashes and ripples across the sky.
Let's just say...to me, he walks on water. :)

Jamison was here
This is how I can tell Jamison has been on the table in the recent past:
Of course, this is a pretty good indication as well:

Through my lens
To cleanse my palate from the bad taste left by the last posts, I'm going back to what I do the best: posting pictures of Jamison!
Yesterday and today felt like Christmas because I got my new camera bag, my new lens, and my flash transmitters in the mail yesterday. Yay! So today after a walk around the block I busted out the new lens and let my baby run wild in the backyard. Here are the un-photoshopped results!
And these next two pictures would have been great, had it not been for....
thanks Duncan. Thanks a million.
So the lens gets a thumbs up...though it really couldn't go wrong with the subject matter.
Except for, you know, Duncan's tinkle time.
